About us

to the blog and website of ARMS in the North West. ARMS is the body for members of the Public & Commercial Services Union (PCS) who have retired, been made redundant, have moved to jobs where PCS doesn't operate but who wish to maintain some involvement in the union, or who simply want to keep in touch. Membership costs £2.09 per month.

This blog keeps NW ARMS members up-to-date with what's going on. We hold regular meetings in different venues around the region to make it easier for you to reach those closest to you. Our local groups in Manchester and Merseyside also hold regular meetings. All meetings are open to members.

NW branch secretaries: please tell your members about us, particularly those who are about to leave employment. We will be happy to send a speaker to your BEC or AGM.

I'm interested. What next?
  • If you are about to leave employment or have already done so, please get in touch (see below).
  • To convert your PCS membership to ARMS, or if your membership has lapsed, click here.
  • As an ARMS member in the NW, you are welcome to all meetings. For details, click:
    • here for Manchester meetings.
      here for Merseyside meetings.
      here for NW Regional meetings.
How do I contact the local ARMS groups?
  • Our contact details are here
  • Please provide us with your personal e-mail address, landline and/or mobile phone number. We ask because we have no access to PCS national membership records. Your information will not be passed on to anyone else.
  • We will then keep you informed about forthcoming meetings and other matters of interest. We'll also e-mail you our regional newsletter.
Postal contact: regrettably, we cannot afford to keep in touch with you by post. One mailshot alone would use most of our funding.
